Hilton Head North End

The Squire Pope Community Park is a wonderful secret uncrowded spot where you can relax and enjoy a beautiful sunset view. The Town of Hilton Head maintains the Rowing and Sailing Center, but it is lightly used. Parking is usually easy to find.

Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge - Highway 278, Pinckney Island -

This national wildlife refuge is a great place to hike and see nature. It closes at sunset, but you can view the sunset from the entry road off Highway 278 between the two bridges to Hilton Head Island.

C.C. Haigh, Jr. Boat Landing - Highway 278, Pinckney Island (between the bridges) -

This public boat landing includes a boat ramp and fishing pier. There is a parking area and space for games and picnics. You'll have a nice view of the sunset here.

Hilton Head Mid Island

Shelter Cove Community Park - 39 Shelter Cove Ln, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928 -

The Shelter Cove Community Park is situation behind the Shelter Cove Towne Centre across from Palmetto Dunes. This beautiful multi-use park has a large circular walkway, a performance stage, a children's playground, and an expansive view across the Broad Creek Salt Marsh that is particularly good for sunset views during the winter season. There are a number of restaurants close by.

Veterans Memorial Park - adjacent to Shelter Cove Community Park -

The Veterans Memorial Park is separated from the Shelter Cove Community Park by an apartment building, but there is a walking path between the two parks. There is also a small parking lot at Veterans Memorial Park. This area tends to be less crowded than the Shelter Cove Community Park, and it has a small pier with wonderful marsh views and an excellent sunset view.

Marshland Road Boat Landing - 97 Marshland Road, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926 -

This public boat landing is adjacent to The Old Oyster Factory Restaurant on Marshland Road. There are about 20 parking spaces and a boat ramp for launching small boats and kayaks. Here you will find a nice view of the sunset, especially during the summer months.

Old House Creek Park - 50 Sterling Point Drive, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926 -

This is a very small park with a fishing pier on the edge of the marsh behind the Sterling Point residential development. It's a bit hard to find, but just follow the road all the way back. There is a beautiful view of the sunset over the marsh looking toward the Calibogue Sound. It's quite tranquil here, so please be respectful of the neighbors.

Hilton Head South End

On the south end of Hilton Head Island, there are very few public parks that afford a view of the sunset. Most of the best locations are within Sea Pines Resort which requires an entrance fee for those who are not guests or residents.
